Welcome to the Sanaa Artisan Jewelry blog.

For more than 30 years, I have enjoyed creating handcrafted jewelry and discovering the endless possibilities that can come from gemstones, beads, metals, wood, color and texture.

Over the years, I have learned something else: jewelry is very personal.

Have you ever seen a necklace, bracelet or pair of earrings and immediately felt drawn to it?

Maybe it was the color of the stones. The unusual design. A particular bead or pendant. Perhaps it reminded you of a place, a person or a special time in your life.

Or maybe you couldn’t explain it at all.

You simply thought, “That speaks to me.”

We often choose jewelry by asking, What will this match?

But perhaps there is another question worth asking:

How does this make me feel?

Jewelry can be an expression of who we are. It can be bold when we feel confident, colorful when we need a little joy, peaceful and earthy when we want simplicity, or elegant when we simply want to feel beautiful.

And what speaks to us can change.

The jewelry you loved ten years ago may not be what you would choose today. Like art, our tastes can evolve as our lives and experiences change.

That’s part of what makes choosing jewelry so personal.

So the next time a piece catches your eye, don’t immediately ask yourself whether you have something to wear with it.

What does it remind you of?

How does it make you feel?
